More Information
Fat freezing is a highly effective treatment.
Nonetheless, it should be noted that the intended use of the treatment is to remove or reduce fat deposits that fail to respond to diet, exercise, or a combination of both.
A common misconception is that cryolipolysis can be used to aid in weight loss. The treatment will prove quite ineffective if losing weight is your goal.
The applicator’s size is approximately 20cm, similar to the palm of your hand. Using the palm of your hand as a template will allow you to determine how many applicators are needed. It is important to note that all of the stubborn fat within the treatment area should be targeted to avoid indentations where fat has been destroyed in some areas and not destroyed in others.
For the upper abdomen OR lower abdomen, this will usually require 1 to 2 applicators. Use the palm of your hand as a guide and if the stubborn fat pocket is less than 20cm you will need 1 applicator, however, if it is more than 20cm you will need 2 applicators. Based on this if you have stubborn fat on the upper abdomen AND lower abdomen you will require 2 to 4 applicators.
The flanks also referred to as the love handles will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right flank is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if there is stubborn fat above this, you will then require 4 applicators. Based on this if you have stubborn fat on the upper abdomen, lower abdomen and flanks you will need between 4 to 8 applicators. Again, use the palm of your hand as a guide.
The lower back will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right lower back is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if there is stubborn fat above/below this, you will require 4 applicators.
The bra back will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right bra back is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if there is stubborn fat above/below this, you will require 4 applicators.
The chest which can only be treated on men will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right chest is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if stubborn fat is above/below this, you will require 4 applicators.
The inner thighs will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right inner thigh is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if stubborn fat is above/below this, you will require 4 applicators.
The outer thighs will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right outer thigh is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if stubborn fat is above/below this, you will require 4 applicators.
Under the bum will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right under the bum area is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if stubborn fat is above/below this, you will require 4 applicators.
The buttock itself will require 2 – 4 applicators. If the stubborn fat on the left and right buttocks is comfortably covered using 1 applicator on each side, this will only require 2 applicators. However, if stubborn fat is above/below this, you will require 4 applicators.
Use the palm of your hand to determine how many applicators are required and tally up the total number. This will then determine the number of applicators you need to book.
A person can lose around 22% – 45% of fat cells on average after undergoing a single cryolipolysis session.
However, we cannot promise specific results.
Every patient responds differently to cryolipolysis.
While some people may achieve their goals after a single treatment session, others may require more sessions for the same results.
Cryolipolysis does not result in or help with losing weight.
Albeit a significant amount of fat cells is removed from a certain area or multiple areas of the body, it is never enough to cause any substantial weight loss.
It is physically impossible to regain the fat cells lost through cryolipolysis.
An adult body is a home to a finite number of fat cells.
The human body stops growing new fat cells once it has crossed adolescence and has stepped into adulthood.
So, once the fat cells are killed and purged from the body following fat freezing treatment, they are gone for good.
However, excessive consumption of calories after cryolipolysis can lead to the leftover fat cells growing in size.
It is important to adhere to a healthy and balanced lifestyle in order to enjoy the benefits of cryolipolysis in the long run.
There are no serious or long-term side effects associated with cryolipolysis.
The typical adverse aftereffects include some redness and a little swelling. Both are mild and tend to disappear within a few days.
Some people also feel a mild soreness immediately after the treatment, similar to how people feel after exercising.
Albeit the tummy is the most popular choice among people who undergo cryolipolysis, the procedure can be performed on parts of the body.
The fat freezing method is as effective on other areas of the body as it is on the stomach.
You can have the following areas of your body and face treated with cryolipolysis at our Leeds clinic:
- Chin
- Arms
- Chest
- Thighs
- Buttocks
- Upper and lower back
Being a fully non-surgical procedure, cryolipolysis does not necessitate any recovery.
There are no surgical incisions made, nor is any anaesthesia used during the treatment.
Patients who undergo the treatment are awake through the entirety of the procedure.
And once the fat freezing session has concluded, the patients are free to get on with their day’s plans and activities immediately out of the Leeds clinic.
Most people are able to achieve satisfactory results after only a single cryolipolysis session. They may need an additional session for the best results.
However, others may require a few sessions before they are able to attain their desired outcomes from the treatment.
It all comes down to how the body responds to the treatment and the size of the fat deposit.
Fat freezing is not an obesity treatment.
The procedure can only be used to freeze out fat cells from fat deposits around the body that do not react to healthy dieting and regular workouts.
No, fat freezing cannot remedy cellulite.
You can avail yourself of a similarly non-invasive treatment to help rid you of cellulite: Cellulite Reduction Treatment.
This treatment is highly effective, and because of its non-invasive nature, you can rest assured that there will be no downtime after the procedure.
Cryolipolysis cannot be suitably substituted for skin tightening treatments.
There are various skin tightening treatments available.
The Radio Frequency Tummy Tightening available at our various clinic locations is the perfect non-surgical solution for tightening the stretched and sagging skin of the abdomen.
And the HIFU Facelift is a terrifically effective facial skin tightening treatment that can provide enduring results.
Fat freezing treatments are carried out using specially designed vacuum applicators.
When the cryolipolysis applicator is placed over the area of the fat deposit, the suctioning system of the handheld device sucks in the patch of fat into a hollow cavity.
The suctioned in fat deposit of the body is then exposed to freezing cold temperatures between -7°C and -8°C.
The outer skin of the fatty area remains protected throughout the procedure, with a layer of gel padding applied prior to the applicator’s use.
The focused cold emitted from the cryolipolysis applicator efficiently kills a significant portion of the fat cells for the subsequent 30 to 90 minutes.
In the first five or so minutes of the procedure, there may be some discomfort caused by the freezing cold and the vacuum mechanism of the applicator.
The vacuum mechanism may cause some mild cramping and the freezing cold likely results in tingling sensations.
But these discomforts are swiftly replaced by a numbing feeling.
Cryolipolysis was granted permission in 2010 by the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) for use in cosmetic fat removal treatments.
Preceding the approval from the FDA, Harvard scientists came across the fat freezing phenomenon when they noticed dimples forming on children’s cheeks as they had frozen popsicles.
Further investigation revealed that the freezing temperature of the popsicles was killing off the fat cells in the children’s cheeks.
And though the fat cells were destroyed, the cold did no harm to the other tissues or outer skin of the cheek.
